These fantastic awards encourage excellence in writing amongst youth in the community. School children from Kindergarten to Year 12 are eligible to enter a piece of original prose of not more than 1,000 words or a piece of original poetry of at least 20 lines, both on a theme of the writer’s own choice.
Prizes are between $50 and $350 depending on category.
Youth Awards in Literature 2010 – entry form
Entries close Monday 31st May 2010, so don’t miss out on this great opportunity!
Hi! I’m Alycia, the new Youth Librarian here at Mosman Library!
I’m fresh to public libraries and super-enthusiastic about making Mosman Library an even greater place for young people to visit.
I’m hoping to have lots of great activities and workshops starting up and we’ll be bringing back the Wired 4 Teens book group. I’ve got a few pretty cool ideas for the school holidays and we’ll be doing the gaming nights where we rock out with Rock Band in the Teen Zone.
I’m curious, though. What do you want to see happen in your library? What activities would you come to, and what kinds of workshops do you think are important? Be brave and introduce yourself in the comments and tell me what you want your Teen Zone to be.
Entries are now open for the Mosman Youth Awards in Literature, an annual competition that gives YOU a chance to show off your creative writing skills. The competition is open to both primary and secondary students.
Up for grabs is a total prize pool of $2,000, with cash prizes ranging from $50 to $350. Cool, huh?! Imagine what you could do with that!
We received over 600 entries last year from not only Mosman but all around NSW and the judges were really impressed with the high standard of work.
Entries close on Monday 31 May and the winners will be announced in August at a special ceremony in the Mosman Youth Centre.
